Building digital capacity for the arts

An Arts Council England and BBC Academy Partnership

Storytelling and pitching

BBC Broadcasting House, Bristol, BS8 2LR

10.00am - 5.00pm

Speakers: Frank Ash, Creative Consultant, BBC Academy

About the Workshop

Artists and arts organisations are expert at telling stories within their own medium.  This workshop aims to support delegates in learning to translate these skills into storytelling for digital platforms using audio, audio-visual, words or other means. The workshop will also look at pitching your story as a critical part of making sure that the project can happen.

The workshop is designed for arts organisations and artists who have a project or idea that they want to bring to fruition; it is not a brainstorming workshop aimed at dreaming up new ideas. During the registration process you will be asked to confirm that you have a thought-through and viable idea to develop at the workshop, as this will form a critical part of the day.

The workshop will aim to:

  • introduce delegates to the key elements of good storytelling
  • equip delegates with the skills necessary to develop and deliver good stories for digital platforms
  • introduce delegates to the techniques required for creating a good verbal pitch
  • encourage delegates to build links with each other during the course of the day and to use the relationships developed to support future activity

Who is this event suitable for?

This workshop is suitable for people working within arts organisations, museums, galleries and for practising artists.  Delegates are required to bring a viable idea that they wish to develop during the workshop.
